Post subject:  Re: CCleaner finds registry problems

Just because I have to post it, there are many complaints about CCleaner as well. Over at bleepingcomputer.com they will not recommend any of these things. Personally, I use TuneUp on all my machines and used Norton SystemWorks on XP and prior (actually still do use it on all Win98 and some XP machines).

It's NEVER EVER wise to let these programs run on automatic. You should manually interact with them. Do not just let them choose for you, but view the choice first, and then YOU manually approve each one. Also, make sure there's a way to UNDO the changes. Norton SystemWorks has an undo function, as does TuneUp. I don't know if CCleaner has an undo function.

Hey, Art --

I'm not complaining about CCleaner. I don't personally know how it works. Just putting a due-diligence statement that there are reports against it, so folks won't blame YOU if it doesn't work. This is a frankforum, so being frank about pro's and con's on any topic, is the idea. I'll be frank and lambast myself if needed (like I did in the Daniel 9:24 video, last half hour here, because I kept NOT LISTENING).

It's fun to criticize self. Not fun, to criticize someone or something else.
