Man, I just got banned from SevenForums for "breech of rules" - WTF?! I had just replied to a post with a link to the Norton Forum where I have left the files for KBGone2.

They probably did it for one or both of these reasons:
#1 they want to keep a hand under their rear so they're always on good terms with microsoft (they make their profit from generating pro-microsoft content and annoying advertisements)
#2 they lack the intelligence to read through a batch script and categorized it as 'malicious'

Under their rules they state:
Quote:
10) Absolutely no posting of malicious content of any kind, e.g., links, software.

But then they also state:
Quote:
13) No ad blocking discussions. This site depends on ads to pay for the costs of running and maintaining it.

So their primary focus will always be money to the point where they sacrifice free speech: since the owner either doesn't have a second job or is too cheap to expense a little cash from his own pocket.

I think adblock programs should be promoted. Anyone who has an agenda against adblock software is mentally sick.

As for windowssecrets, they're probably pro-microsoft hiding under one of their rules as well:
Quote:
8. Do not transmit dangerous material
Do not post information that is deliberately false or misleading or anything that contains software viruses designed to interrupt the function of any other computer or its programs or files. Do not attempt in any way to disrupt the Lounge service or its server.

13. No posting of pirated and/or illegal material
Windows Secrets is committed to complying with copyright and other laws, and expects all members to comply as well. Using the Lounge to transmit (whether by e-mail, uploading, posting, or otherwise) copyrighted works without the express permission of the owner, or to engage in any activity that infringes any copyright or any other right of a third party, violates these rules. However, short excerpts, especially with a link to the source, that a reasonable person would consider "fair use" under the U.S. Copyright Act are permitted and encouraged. You represent and warrant (a) that you own, or are otherwise lawfully authorized to use, any files, data, text, or other information that you transmit to or through the Lounge, and (b) that any use of the files, data, text, or other information supplied by you does not violate these rules and will not cause injury to any person or entity.

They would probably consider a batch file that removes certain updates as breaking copyright or malicious. Technically it shouldn't since you can just remove the updates manually if you desire, and that's a normal function of Windows 7...

FYI to others: the name of Article_86's new forum is 'History of Masons', here: viewforum.php?f=58

So this topic, continues there. I can't lock the topic, this version of phpBB only allows locking posts, which is against the purpose of frankforum (members are always allowed to edit their posts). So just know, further posting here might not get attention.
