With Samsung selling users to switch off immediately and subsequently pulling the production and sales of the Galaxy Note 7 it has to be one of the most significant headlines in the world of technology of recent years.

Although it can mostly attributed to damage limitation this is a massive decision Samsung have made which would have cost billions.

The very root of the problem is poor quality control and this does not just apply to Samsung.

Most of us have a mobile device the question has to be asked. How safe is it ? How far does this go ?. Of all the smartphones manufactured by less well known companies than Samsung it surely has to be a concern.

Even Apple have had close shaves with the iPhone and as with the Galaxy Note 7 is touted as a premium product.

So where to now ? Could this happen again ? Lets hope this is a massive wake up call.
